Isfahan’s Department of Culture and Guidance on January 12 and 13, 2018 prevented women musicians of the Isfahan’s National Orchestra from going on stage in their concerts.

The Isfahan National Orchestra had a concert on January 12 and 13 with a performance, but the Office of Culture and Guidance banned female musicians from going on stage. Flutist, Shahrooz Baluchestani, said that woman always take part in the rehearsals sessions but are banned from the actual performances.

“The orchestra goes on stage without ladies in Isfahan,” he added.

The state-run ILNA news-agency qouted Baluchestani on January 15, 2018 as sayiung: ” Women musicians of Isfahan have not had the permission to go on stage for years. Why they cannot perform on the stage in their own hometown, is a question that has not been logically answered. There are many skillful players among women who are educated in music and have been playing for years.”
