Iran has released a twisted fake video of a sniper taking out US President Donald Trump after the death of the Islamic Republic’s top general.

The doctored footage, posted by the Iranian government’s news agency Fars, opens with the message: “Hey U.S., if you begin the war, we will end the war.”

The assassin, hiding behind a vent grate, takes a rifle from a briefcase and looks at a picture of slain Qasem Soleimani.

He then shoots Trump multiple times as his bodyguards rush to protect him.

At the end of the video, the following message appears: “In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.”

Trump ordered the assassination of Iran’s Quds Force Major-General Soleimani at Baghdad’s International Airport on Friday.

He led the elite unit, which has been designated by the U.S. as a terror group since 2007.

Soleimani oversaw networks of proxy forces, who have long been suspected of actions to destabilise the Middle East.

Trump afterwards said he sanctioned the killing to “to stop a war, not to start one”.

Iran today branded the US Army and the Pentagon as “terrorist organisations” during Soleimani’s funeral.

He was buried between the graves of Enayatollah Talebizadeh and Mohammad Hossein Yousef Elahi, two former comrades in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

A stampede erupted during the procession, with at least 56 people killed and more than 200 injured.

According to Tasnim news agency, Iran has worked up 13 sets of plans in revenge for Soleimani’s killing.

The report quoted Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, as saying that even the weakest among them would be a “historic nightmare” for the US, but declined to give any details.

“If the US troops do not leave our region voluntarily and upright, we will do something to carry their bodies horizontally out,” Mr Shamkhani said.
