Iran’s Embassy in Turkey on Monday commemorated the 41st anniversary of the victory of 1979’s Iranian Revolution.
The event in Turkey’s capital Ankara, which marks also Iran’s national day, was attended by many high-profile Turkish officials and foreign diplomats.
In his welcoming speech, Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Mohammad Farazmand praised what he described as his country’s “strong, historical” ties with Turkey.
“Iran and Turkey enjoy multidimensional cooperation in culture, the economy, trade, transportation, security, and science,” he added.
For his part, Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli acknowledged the deep cooperation between the two countries.
Turkey and Iran have a common goal to “advance our cooperation in line with the two countries’ common interests,” he said.
He added that the current threats to regional peace and security requires “effective cooperation more than anything else.”
For nearly four centuries, Turkey and Iran have shared a border spanning some 560 kilometers. Turkey has an embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran, and also has consulates general in the provinces of Tabriz, Orumiyeh, and Mashhad.
