The Iranian regime has been described as the number one threat to peace and security in the Middle East. For years, it has been sparking wars and conflicts and fuelling those that had already started. It has been denying its own people the most basic of human rights for decades and it has caused so much bloodshed in the Middle East.

The Iranian regime was once very active in Europe, carrying out a number of assassinations and attacks. It went quiet for some time, but last year alone there were a number of attacks. The regime, despite the U.S. maximum pressure campaign and the intense scrutiny it is under, decided to plan a series of assassinations and terrorist attacks on European soil. Thankfully the European intelligence agencies were able to foil the incidents before they happened.

But it is more than the Middle East and Europe that is under threat from the Iranian regime. Its activities have spread much further afield.

Iran provides extensive support to the Lebanese Hezbollah and they have collaborated extensively, especially in some of the conflicts in the Middle East. The United States’ Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has linked Hezbollah to La Oficina – an offshoot of the Medellin Cartel that was led by the notorious Pablo Escobar.

However, Hezbollah’s involvement with drug trafficking goes much further than just wanting to finance its weapon acquisitions. The terrorist group has realised that befriending global traffickers could be potentially useful when it comes to the military side of operations.

It is also a way to empower itself and boosts its position. For example, the DEA said that Hezbollah’s enemies could be weakened and damaged through drug addiction, and then Hezbollah could profit extensively from the fight against addiction.

It seems that Hezbollah is going to move further north and see what it can do in Canada. There is a fentanyl crisis in the city and Hezbollah will try to exploit this.

Iran regime is really feeling the effects of the U.S. sanctions and it is going to, if it has not already, start to look into other criminal money-making adventures through the use of its numerous militias and proxy groups.

The people of Iran are calling for regime change because they will no longer let the regime meddle in the affairs of other nations to the detriment of its own people. They will no longer accept that the international community is not putting a stop to Iran’s belligerence and they are taking the matter into their own hands.

The Iranian regime has been left to its own devices for far too long, and too many foreign governments have called for patience and concessions, believing that the regime will naturally become more moderate. However, none of this has proven to be right. In fact, when the regime is on the receiving end of appeasement, it seems to become even bolder and belligerent in its actions.

Toughness is the only way any country can reasonably respond to the Iranian regime.
