Five Iranian girls risked arrest by dressing up as men to sneak into a stadium to watch their favourite team play a game of football and lift the league trophy.

Women are banned from attending matches in stadiums in Iran and are detained by police if they try to flout the rules.

This weekend, a group of young women donned male clothing, wigs and fake beards to pass as men, reports the Daily Sabah.

As they watched Persepolis beat Sepidrood Rasht 3-0, the girls filmed themselves sitting deep in the stands and surrounded by men.

The girls then stayed to watch Persepolis lift the Persian Gulf Pro League trophy.
