The Head of Literacy Movement Organization of Iran stated that 53% of students drop out of schools in Iran due to economic problems and 35% of cases are originated from cultural issues.

According to the state-run IRNA News on July 24, 2017, Ali Bagherzadeh also announced that 12% to 15% of students leave school because of issues related to the Education Organization.

The unofficial figures show that there are 3 million and 200 thousand dropped-out students in Iran. Many children that left school because of economic problems are currently working in the streets and workshops.

According to official figures, there are 2 million children of work in Iran; however, the unofficial statistics indicate the number reaches 7 million.

Many of these children have either left school or never gone to school. These children are deprived of education because of economic, cultural, and educational problems and their number is increasing in the country.
