On August 30, in its quarterly report, the International Atomic Agency (IAEA) confirmed that Iran’s regime is progressively quitting the 2015 nuclear deal it had forged with world powers.

The report, obtained by Reuters, shows that the Iranian regime has accumulated 241.6 kg of enriched uranium and is enriching at around the same level as before the nuclear deal, up to 4.5%. this shows that Iran has exceeded both the 202.8 kg limit on its enriched uranium stock and the 3.67% cap on the fissile purity to which it is allowed to refine uranium under the terms of the nuclear deal.

“Its breaches have therefore not yet made much difference to the time it would need to obtain enough fissile material for a nuclear bomb”, Reuters added, based on the IAEA report.

Yet, on Thursday, August 29, after talks held by the European powers over the Iran nuclear deal, Federica Mogherini, EU diplomatic chief, while persisting on continuing negotiations with Iran, said during a press conference, “I would like to underline from these discussions on the wider Middle East is our clear and strong position on our full support to the preservation of the full implementation of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action], the nuclear deal with Iran. The European Union and its Member States continue to be fully behind it and are doing all they can to try to have this fundamental element of nuclear non-proliferation in place.”

As Iran’s analysts said, pursuing negotiations with the Iranian regime only buys time for it and further emboldens the regime to continue its destabilizing activities in the region.
