An inmate dies after being brutalized by prison guards in Sanandaj, the capital of the Iranian Kurdistan Province.
Khosrow Jamalifar, 26, lost his life in the Central Prison of Sanandaj on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, after prison guards beat him up. The reason for his death was a strike at the head.
Mr. Jamalifar had been in prison for three years on the charge of murder and was awaiting his final sentence.
The prison’s nurse by the name of Abdollahi who failed to dispatch him immediately to hospital is responsible for his death.
Khosrow Jamalifar was buried in Behesht-e Mohammadi cemetery on Wednesday, November 3, in the heavy presence of security forces. Security forces threatened his family not to talk to the media.
Beating of prisoners is a common practice in Iranian jails and is a systematic means of harassing prisoners by the Judiciary and the Intelligence Ministry.
