Iranian police shot and killed a young Kurd man in western Iran. The 29-year-old father identified as Khosrow Sharifi passed away from the severity of his wounds in the hospital yesterday.
According to a report by the Hengaw Organization, Sharifi was shot in the head by the police in Baneh, and was taken to the hospital.
A person close to the Sharifi family told Hengaw that Khosrow Sharifi who used his car as a taxi was driving his passengers on October 28 near the Kileh border region in western Iran when the police stopped his car, and started shooting.
An informed source said Sharifi was taken to the Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj, and was in intensive care for 10 days.
The source said the Sharifi family had filed a complaint in the Saqqez Court against the police forces responsible for the shooting.
No official reports have been published as to why the young taxi driver was targeted but some sources say he was carrying border porters or kolbars in his car. The regime categorizes kolbars as “smugglers” and routinely shoots and kills them.
Last week, security forces killed two kolbars in Chaldoran, northwestern Iran, and one man in Ilam, western Iran.
The Iranians regime’s security forces and police have a history of shooting and killing civilians with impunity.
There are almost daily reports of police and border guards opening fire on Kurd border porters in western Iran and civilians carrying fuel in southeastern Iran. Iranian security forces carry out these shootings with impunity.
An annual report by a human rights groups said that at least 300 Iranian citizens were directly or indirectly killed or wounded by Iran’s state security forces in 2018.
According to the report, at least 142 reports were published about these incidents which indicate the widespread use of lethal force by Iran’s security forces without due process, which amounts to arbitrary killings.
