If anyone still needs more proof that Iran can’t be trusted — and President Trump was right to pull out of the 2015 nuke deal with it — the International Atomic Energy Agency just provided some.
The agency uncovered uranium particles at a location in Iran the regime had not declared as a nuclear-related site, the BBC reported Monday.
“Inspectors are believed to have taken samples from a location in Tehran’s Turquzabad district,” the BBC said. That’s the same spot where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned last year Tehran had a “secret atomic warehouse.”
Iran denied it had such a facility, of course, claiming the site was home to a harmless carpet-cleaning factory.
The confidential IAEA report, seen by the BBC, said its inspectors had “detected natural uranium particles of anthropogenic origin at a location in Iran not declared to the agency.” Israeli officials said the particles showed uranium had been stored there and that Iran took steps to hide the evidence. The agency also confirmed Tehran has restarted enriching uranium at its underground Fordo plant.
Fact is, Iran, which sponsors worldwide terrorism, threatens Israel and the United States and has worked feverishly to dominate the Middle East, was never a reliable party to the nuke deal. Which is why it was so foolish for Team Obama to reward it with billions of dollars in the hope it would seriously give up its pursuit of nukes.
