Iran regime’s leader Ali Khamenei recently accused the US of planning to disrupt Iran through sanctions and encouraging the popular people’s protest in order to cause a civil war.
He also claimed that the Iranian Regime was strong enough to survive the US’s plot and boasted that the mullahs would celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution in February; an obvious reference to comments from US National Security Advisor John Bolton, where he said that the Regime would fall before then.
However, the ongoing protests in Iran, which are not directed by the US, underline that the Regime is failing to satisfy the needs of every day Iranians because they are wasting the people’s money on foreign military adventures, missile programmes, and terror plots.
These anti-Regime protests, which began last December and continued despite a massive crackdown by the Iranian Regime, have earned support from the international community, including the US.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently tweeted: “The people of Iran are tired of the corruption, injustice, and incompetence from their leaders. The world hears their voice.”
And he is far from the only one. To coincide with the anniversary of the Iran protests, Iranian Americans held a conference to express support for the protesters and highlight the Regime’s malign role in the world, which was attended by a bipartisan coalition of Congress members.
At the event, the politicians introduced their initiative (House Resolution 1034) to support the protesters calling for a free, democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Iran, which is signed by over 100 members of Congress.
Judy Chu (D-CA) condemned the Iranian Regime for its state-sponsored terrorism, noting that she was “proud” to co-sponsor the resolution and express her support for the Iranian people.
Tom McClintock (R-CA) said: “As the journey of the mullahs has become more extreme, the international resistance to them has become more resolute.”
The Congress members also noted that the recent midterm elections and the changes that have made to the House and the Senate would not stop anyone from fighting for the rights of the Iranian people.
Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) said: “The change of Congress will not stop us from fighting for victory, a new majority is in power [in the House], please know that democracy will not be far from our heart, our mind and our lips.”
Mike Coffman (R-CO) said: “It’s so important for the United States to not lose its focus [on the Iranian regime].”
While Steve Cohen (D-TN), a co-chair of the Congressional Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus, said that nothing would stop him from condemning the Iranian regime’s human rights abuses and support for terrorism.
