Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), was established in 1998. POGC is responsible for development of all phases of South Pars gas field and development of North Pars, Golshan and Ferdowsi gas fields, as well.

The main missions of POGC are reservoir evaluation, technical and economic assessments; engineering studies, executive contractors’ appraisal and selection; and management of implementation of South Pars fields’ development projects and other gas reservoirs in the Persian Gulf.
Decisiveness of the Ministry of Petroleum to uphold and exploit the Islamic Republic of Iran’s rights in the South Pars gas field is one of the most important objectives behind establishment of POGC. Relying on modern management knowledge; oil and gas sector efficient and experienced managers, specialists and experts familiar with implementation of oil and gas projects, POGC has thus far taken major steps in realization of NIOC objectives.

Optimum utilization of local and regional resources abilities and capacities in implementation of projects and increasing the Iranians participation in manufacturing products; is one of our other great achievements of POGC.

It is through exploiting and developing various phases of South Pars gas field that the Gross National Product (GNP) has increased and a considerable perspective in the growth and blossoming of oil and gas industries will be achieved.

Chief among the most important minor achievements resulted from development of South Pars in this region, is the diminishment of deprivation and poverty on one hand, and paving the way for industrial, services and customs; transportation , maintenance ,as well as creation of oil and gas related industries in the region, construction of airports, highways, , telecommunication network, and expansion of electricity network and tourism industry.
