A Student Detained on a Charge of Blasphemy in Iran

The Head of Tehran Cyber Police, known as FATA, in the west of Tehran Province stated, “According to the recent observations made by FATA experts in cyberspace, a person has released a content on a social network, insulting the sanctities and raising doubts to disturb the public mindset in different groups. FATA identified this student in Robat Karim (located in the southwest of Tehran Province) and arrested him after receiving a judicial order.”

Colonel Haj Ali Salehi also claimed, “The promotion of vice in cyberspace is forbidden. The Iranian Cyber Police will prosecute the cyber criminals without any condonation.”

It is noteworthy that the 21-year-old boy, Sina Dehghan was also charged with insulting sanctities and sentenced to execution by the Branch 1 of Arak Criminal Court. His sentence was carried out in February 2016 by the Supreme Court of Iran.
