Khalid Mehdiyev was part of a plot to assassinate Masih Alinejad;
Khalid Mehdiyev was captured on Thursday, July 28. He was allegedly carrying an AK-47 firearm. According to Fox News, police stopped 23-year-old Khalid Mehdiyev North in his vehicle after running a stop sign, then found the assault rifle on him.
According to the New York Post, specialists testify that on Wednesday and Thursday, Khalid Mehdiyev was seen near Masih Alinejad’s home in Brooklyn. He is blamed for standing guard for too long and in any case having dinner delivered to his vehicle. He was allegedly caught on Alinejad’s home surveillance cameras walking through the front entrance and looking through the windows.
Mehdiyev was eventually pulled over after violating a minor traffic rule by going through a stop sign. He was accused of having cash, an AK-47 and 66 rounds of ammunition by government specialists. The suspect said he was looking for another house near Flatbush, where Alinejad is staying, as a resident of Yonkers.
Mehdiyev is currently facing a charge of having a weapon under his control. Examinations move forward with claims that he was watching Alinejad’s house while she was away.
Alinejad became a U.S. citizen in 2019 after working for years as a journalist in Iran. She fled the country after its disputed 2009 presidential election and has become a prominent figure on Farsi-language satellite channels abroad that criticize Iran.
Last year, an Iranian intelligence officer and others were charged with attempting to kidnap Alinejad and take her back to Iran. Officials in Iran have denied the charge.
