Iranian Regime in a position to enrich uranium up to 90 percent

Iran on Friday reiterated its intention to maintain its peaceful nuclear program, although it is in a position to enrich uranium up to 90 percent, with which it could manufacture nuclear weapons, HispanTV commented on Friday.

The source reproduced statements by the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (OASI), Behruz Kamalvandi, who explained the progress of the sector with possibilities of reaching that level, which entails a change in the country’s philosophy.

This week, Iran began to inject gas into the centrifuges of the Fordo nuclear plant to re-enrich fissionable material to 20 percent as a result of a law approved by the Mayles (Parliament).

The legislation responds to punitive measures decreed by the United States and to influence Europe to adopt the correct position regarding the policy of punishment imposed by Washington.

By virtue of this agreement, sealed in 2015 between Iran and the 5+1 group (United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany), the Islamic Republic of Iran reduced its potential in the nuclear industry in exchange for relief from United Nations sanctions.

From May 2019, one year after the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear deal, Iranian authorities began to cut commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), although they reiterated that all those steps are reversible, as long as the European parties return to nuclear consent.
