Kurdish civil activist Jabbar Oyhangi remains missing 10 days after his arrest by the Islamic Republic’s intelligence agents.
Oyhangi, 52, was taken into custody on January 12 from his workplace in Sanandaj by Intelligence Department officers, who reportedly acted without presenting an arrest warrant.
Family members have been unable to determine his location or condition since the arrest.
Authorities have not disclosed any charges against Oyhangi or provided reasons for his detention.
His family’s attempts to obtain information about his whereabouts have been unsuccessful, according to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization.
The arrest marks another instance of arbitrary detention in Iran’s Kurdish regions in recent weeks, where civil society activists have faced increased scrutiny from security forces.
