A man identified as Seyed Ibrahim Rasouli was shot dead on January 18, 2018, in an assault by state forces in Eqlid, in Fars Province.

According to eyewitnesses, Seyed Ibrahim Rasouli was shot after he defended himself against the state security forces who intended to forcibly enter his house. The clashes between the man and state forces lasted over 10 hours.

Khosrow Razmjouee, the commander of the State Security Force of Eqlid, called Ibrahim a “hoodlum” and while clinging to a list of drugs that falsely claimed to have found in Ibrahim ‘s home, he claimed that he had committed suicide, according to the state-run Young Reporters Club, affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards.

Rising outrage over the killing of Ibrahim Rasouli, thousands of people participated at funeral service for Ebrahim Rassouli, and chanted slogans such as “Today is the Day of Mourning, our oppressed champion is before God today”, “O our Lord, our champion, we miss you today.”
