On March 4th, guards at Karaj Central Prison, allegedly acting on orders from the prison’s director, Ali Keshavarsian, launched a violent raid on a wing of Ward 7. This attack, believed to be retaliation for the prisoners’ low participation in the recent regime-controlled elections, resulted in the destruction of personal belongings and raised concerns about human rights abuses.

The guards reportedly ransacked the cells, destroying mattresses, pillows, and other personal items the prisoners had acquired at their own expense. Additionally, essential items like spoons and forks were confiscated, and glasses were shattered.

Among the targeted prisoners was Mohammad Hosni, a supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), who lost all his belongings in the raid. Prisoners allege that this act was intended to inflict both physical and psychological harm, constituting an act of revenge for their refusal to participate in the “fake elections” held on March 1st, despite pressure from the prison authorities.
