Iran has drawn condemnation after releasing its final report into the downing of a Ukrainian jet that killed 176 people, with Kiev calling it a “cynical attempt” to hide the truth.

In the lengthy report Iran’s civil aviation organisation concluded that Flight PS752 was shot down over Tehran by two missiles because of human error, corroborating accounts from the Iranian authorities.

The plane was downed last January by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps amid heightened tensions following the US assassination of General Qasem Soleimani. Iran hit American military bases in Iraq with more than a dozen missiles after the assassination but the jet was cleared for take-off nevertheless.

Fifty-five of the victims were Canadian citizens and 30 were permanent residents; 53 others were travelling
