Russia has become the biggest investor in Iran, said Iran’s finance minister in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times.

He said that this fiscal year, Russia has invested $2.76 billion in Iran.

According to Iran’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, the volume of direct foreign investments in the country this financial year has reached 4.2 billion dollars, two-thirds of which are from Russia.

The Minister of Finance said that discussions are underway with Russia on the financing of industrial and transport projects, including the mining sector.

In January this year, representatives of the central banks of Russia and Iran signed an agreement to facilitate financial and banking activities.

The Iranian finance minister said talks are also being held with China and Turkey to make banking simple, but currently our financial network with Russia is better than any other country.
