The strikes and demonstrations of the Bazaar merchants and the shopkeepers in Tehran, which received widespread support from the people, especially the youth, spread to different parts of the city. In Tehran, the Mirdamad Market, Chahar Sough and the Qaisariyah Market (the center for selling watches and jewelry) as well as the Shoush and Mowlavi markets also joined this major strike in protest of the recession and a dramatic drop in the Rial and high prices. The shopkeepers and the youth in Amir Kabir and Nazem al-Atebba also demonstrated in Ray avenue, where is the center for selling spare parts for automobiles.

The protesters, being present in most of Tehran’s central streets, chanted: Death to the Dictator; Death to Khamenei; Death to the principle of the Velayat-e Faqih; Beware of the day we get armed; Reformist, conservatives, the story is over; Cannon, tank, firecracker, Khamenei must be killed ; Down with high prices ; Our enemy is right here, they falsely claim it is the US; We close down Bazaar, we shall free Iran; Iranians will die but shall never accept humiliation; We shall die and will get back Iran; Why are you the people sitting, Iran has become like Palestine; Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, we are all together; and …

The repressive forces raided the protesters in different parts of the city and sought to disperse them by shooting into the air and firing tear gas. Brave young people defended themselves by throwing stones and bricks and returning tear gas among the mercenaries. They set fire to motorcycles and trash bins to block the repressive forces in front of the regime’s parliament in Baharestan Square, in Istanbul intersection and in Ferdowsi Street. A young boy suffered a stroke due to the severity of the blows by the riot guard mercenaries. A number of attackers were punished and a number of police kiosks and motorcycles of riot police were set on fire.

Strike and protest have spread to many other cities, including Bandar Abbas, Shahriar, Karaj, Kashan, Bandar Qeshm, Shiraz, Kermanshah and Mashhad. Demonstrations in Bandar Abbas turned into a clash and protesters burned tires for neutralizing tear gas.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, saluted the uprising of Bazaar merchants and the youths in Tehran and various cities, and called on all the people throughout the country to support the Bazaar merchants and the demonstrators.
