The commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force unveiled plans to manufacture and develop advanced equipment appropriate for long-range operations.

Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi-Fard paid a surprise visit to an air defense base in Tehran on Thursday to evaluate his forces’ combat preparedness.

In comments during the visit, the commander said that considering the threats and potential challenges ahead, one of the main plans on the agenda of the Army’s Air Defense Force during the current Iranian year (began on March 21) is to manufacture long-range radar equipment, missiles and advanced drones.

Highlighting the air defense’s strict monitoring of Iran’s airspace and aerial borders, the general said the country owes its safety and progress in the air defense industry to the young local experts.

Iranian military experts and engineers have made remarkable breakthroughs in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient. Iranian officials have made clear that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never be open for negotiations.
