Supporters of a free Iran to march in Berlin on Saturday

Thousands of Iranians will march in Berlin on Saturday in support of an end to the religious dictatorship ruling Iran. Supporters of the Iranian Resistance will urge the European Union to impose sanctions on the mullahs’ regime and to support the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people.

Supporters of the main democratic opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK) will rally at the Brandenburg Gate in the German capital in the third of a series of major ‘Free Iran’ marches going on in Europe and the United States.

They will say that any government that partners with the regime to circumvent sanctions is complicit in preserving an inhumane dictatorship. Imposing sanctions on the mullahs’ regime aids the people of Iran in their struggle against this dictatorship.

The International community, and specifically the EU, must recognize that resistance is the Iranian people’s right to establish the sovereignty of the people of Iran, the demonstrators will say.

Prominent German dignitaries and lawmakers are scheduled to speak at Saturday’s rally.

The march is being held against a backdrop of international tensions over the Iranian regime’s violations of the 2015 nuclear deal and its recent spate of terrorist attacks in the region.

Two other marches were held in Brussels and Washington by MEK supporters in solidarity with the anti-regime protests that have rocked Iran since December 2017.
