Thousands of Iranian Americans are planning to rally in support of democratic change in Iran outside the United Nations in New York on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, as the annual session of the UN General Assembly takes place.

The supporters of the main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK) will call on the international community to adopt a policy of firmness in the face of Iran’s oppressive, theocratic and terrorist-sponsoring regime.

Prominent speakers will include for U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman.

According to the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC), the demonstrators will say that the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and its president Hassan Rouhani do not represent the Iranian people who have shouted “Death to Khamenei, Death to Rouhani” in the nationwide uprisings, demanding the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime and the establishment of democracy.

At a time when Iran’s regime is resorting to executions and torture across the country to confront growing unrest, and expanding its nuclear blackmail, terrorism and warmongering, the president of this dictatorship has no place in the United Nations for this year’s General Assembly.

The rally will call on UN member states to impose comprehensive sanctions on the regime for flagrant violations of human rights, the export of terrorism, illicit nuclear weapons and ballistic missile projects and wreaking havoc in the Middle East.

Rouhani should be sanctioned alongside Khamenei and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad

The “No to Rouhani” demonstration in New York is a reflection of protests and demands for justice by the Iranian people, and the Iranian nation’s will to launch a new uprising, with MEK Resistance Units leading the way. This initiative will be focused on overthrowing the inhumane regime to establish freedom, democracy and popular sovereignty in Iran.
