The henchmen of the mullahs regime in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj have increased pressure on political prisoners in Hall 10, Ward 4. By destroying the medical records of prisoners and preventing them from being transferred to a hospital or even prison clinic, they are torturing them physically and psychologically.
Majid Asadi, a political prisoner, is suffering from a variety of diseases, including acute digestive disease with unbearable pain. Arash Sadeqi, who is in a dire situation after long hunger strikes in protest to the deteriorating prison conditions and arbitrary arrests, was immediately returned to prison after surgery and was deprived of the minimum medical treatment. Hassan Sadeqi, another prisoner, is at risk of tearing of the eye veins and blindness because of the blows that the torturers have inflicted to his head and his eyes. Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi is also in severe condition due to heart disease and old age.
The Hall 10 of Ward 4 of Gohardasht Prison is a high security prison that lacks the most basic facilities. By the arrival of cold season, prisoners suffer from the lack of heating devices, hot water for bathing, ventilation, low levels of nutrition and health.
Meanwhile, hundreds of prisoners in the central prison of Orumieh protested to the suicide of one of the prisoners, the dire situation of the jail and the mafia measures of the head of the prison. Protesting prisoners kicked out the head of prison and all agents and lawyers of the wards from the ward.
Prisoners in the central prison of Orumieh have been deprived of the minimum medical treatment, and only last month three prisoners died due to deprivation of treatment.
Hundreds of prisoners in the Ward 3 and 4 have only three hours a day for bathing. Instead of addressing the prisoners’ problems, the prison chief has pressured them to save and reduce their water and electricity consumption. The prison shop also has no possibilities to meet the needs of prisoners.
The Iranian Resistance calls on all relevant international bodies, including the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran and the Rapporteur on torture, to condemn this inhuman treatment, and calls for the formation of a fact finding mission to address the situation of prisoners and prisons, especially political prisoners in Iran.
The barbarism that governs Iran is the disgrace of contemporary humanity and must be rejected from the family of nations, and its leaders must face justice for their crimes against humanity.
