The representative of the city of Shahr-e Babak to Iran’s parliament known as the Majlis, Mostafa Reza Hosseini Qotbabadi, has threatened to stop drinking fluids if his demands are not met.
Qotbabadi has already made headlines by going on a dry-hunger strike, calling for the government’s attention to his constituency’s problems in central Iran.
Referring to water rationing in some areas of Shahr-e Babak, Qotbabadi said that he thinks of the people as a representative.
“I will continue my hunger strike until the problems of the people in my constituency addressed,” the state-run Iran Students News Agency, ISNA, cited Qotbabadi as saying.
Qotbabadi previously criticized Iran’s practices of usury as the root of the country’s current chaotic economic situation.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani recently acknowledged the rise in food and commodity prices in Iran, but blamed it on Washington’s “economic war” against Tehran. The Iranian government’s critics, meanwhile, believe that mismanagement is one of the leading causes of Iran’s current economic issues.
