Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Mohammed Hussein strongly condemned the recent attack by the IRGC on the Kurdistan Region during an interview with CNN on January 17. He clarified that there is no Mossad center in Erbil and characterized the Iranian regime’s actions as an inability to confront Israel directly. The IRGC’s attack targeted civilian areas, including a house, resulting in casualties among Iraqi Kurds. Hussein denounced these acts as aggression and violations of international law.

Highlighting Iran’s alleged reluctance or inability to directly confront Israel, the Iraqi Foreign Minister accused Iran of seeking a convenient target in Erbil. He revealed that Iraq has officially lodged a complaint with the United Nations and the Security Council in response to the attacks.

In a separate interview with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Hussein criticized the Iranian regime’s assault on Erbil, asserting that Iran is attempting to export its internal issues through provocative actions. Speaking from the World Economic Forum in Davos, he emphasized that Iraq has undertaken political and diplomatic measures to address the bombing of Erbil by Iran.
