Local accounts in India reported on Saturday the arrest for questioning of two Iranian citizens by Delhi police special forces on suspicion the were involved in the bombing near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi. The two suspects were observed exiting from a taxi near the scene of the blast, Chadashot 13 reported.
An envelope was found at the scene which referenced the names of Revolutionary Guards commander Qasem Soleimani and Iranian bomb maker Mohsen Fhrizadh, who were eliminated last year. “It’s just a trailer, we can end your life, anytime, anywhere,” the envelope read.
The blast did cause any casualties or damage to the Israeli embassy in New Delhi, which is located 50 meters away. The improvised low intensity device exploded when it was thrown from a passing vehicle, and several vehicles were damaged.
Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi spoke with his fellow Indian Foreign Minister following the incident, and the Indian Foreign Minister assured Ashkenazi that the Indian authorities are responsible for the security of the Israeli Mission and will continue to act to locate all those involved in the explosion.
Foreign Minister Ashkenazi thanked his colleague and promised full cooperation and any help required from Israel.
India’s National Security Adviser spoke by telephone with Meir Ben Shabbat, the head of the National Security Council, and provided an update to the Prime Minister on the efforts being made to investigate the explosion, and will ensure the safety of the Israelis and Jews who are there.
