Iranian state media reported on Friday that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s political chief declared that the United States ‘will not dare to take military action’ against the Islamic Republic.

Politburo head Yadollah Javani added that Iran is not will to engage in talks with the US at this time as it continues to act on a strategy of intimidation.

The report from Iran’s Tasnim News agency comes days after the US imposed fresh sanctions on Tehran’s mining and steel industries in an effort to economically isolate the resource-rich Middle Eastern nation to persuade it to comply with international nuclear protocols.

In April, the US classified the IRGC as a terrorist group, prompting outrage in Iran over such a characterization of its official armed forces.
