The disclosure of classified documents ahead of the Iranian regime’s parliamentary elections has dealt a great blow to the crumbling regime. Some of the published documents have exposed the criminal role of the regime and the Majlis (Parliament) in repression and warmongering. For instance, in one of the “highly confidential” letters, Brigadier General Mohammad Baqeri, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, thanked Majlis Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf for the Majlis approval of 3 billion euros for the defense infrastructure and requested an additional 500 million euros to produce naval vessels, missiles, radars, and drones.

It becomes clear that simply behind the scenes, 3 billion euros are easily spent from the pockets and empty tables of the people on the regime’s war machine to strengthen the foundation of the “defense” of the regime against the army of the hungry. And with a single written line, an additional 500 million euros are allocated to the regime’s security forces.

In another section of the “Highly Confidential” letter, Baqeri has requested additional assistance regarding the following matters: “providing support for the salaries of Armed Forces personnel, covering the budget deficit for welfare facilities, assisting with the financing of intelligence and Basij organizations, addressing the issue of overtime work for law enforcement forces, constructing residential buildings for the Ministry of Defense, supporting the budget of the army, strengthening the Quds Force and the aerospace organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and enhancing the intelligence apparatus in universities and ideological institutions.”

On November 10, 2023, the deputy commander of the IRGC, Ali Fadavi, said, “The IRGC has not rested even for 24 hours during these long 45 years after the victory of the revolution, to fulfill this duty. They enahnced their own power and capabilities, as well as the power and capabilities of all those who wish to step in this path.”

There is a clear emphasis on the mission of IRGC in warmongering and carrying out assassinations beyond Iran’s borders, thus notified in the IRGC charter. However, it is better to hear the 45-year track record of the regime from disillusioned and critical sources.

On June 26, 2023, a regime expert, Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh, said, “In the Islamic Republic, foreign policy is ideological, and because it is ideological, its executive arm is the IRGC… After 40 years, look at where our society has ended up! Let’s abandon these meaningless slogans that have yielded zero results!”

On February 9, the former CEO of the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRGC), Abdullah Naseri, while comparing Khomeini to Khamenei, said, “During the time of Mr. Khomeini, almost the entire economy of the country was under the control of the government… However, Khamenei only pays attention to the Revolutionary Guard and Basij, and more than 60 percent of the capital and national economy is in his hands.”

The former editor-in-chief of Kayhan newspaper, Mehdi Nasiri, in referring to the mobilization of the IRGC to gain more seats in the parliamentary elections, said, “They brought in 70 IRGC commanders in the previous Majlis. This time they probably want to bring in 140 commanders. Is this an election?” He then, by referring to the disgrace of warmongering and the massacre carried out by the IRGC in Syria, added, “According to the commanders of the IRGC, you went to Syria, intervened, and supported Bashar al-Assad, a dictator who killed tens of thousands of people in Syria just to remain in power. Where is the honor and usefulness in that?”

However, during these 45 years of warmongering, suppression, and destruction by the regime, the Iranian Resistance has steadfastly stood against the corrupt regime both inside and outside Iran. The Resistance has demonstrated this by publishing numerous books, organizing seminars and press conferences, as well as presenting thousands of documents showcasing the regime’s record of four decades of suppression and warmongering. They have shown that the IRGC is the one who shed the blood of people on the streets throughout the country, blinded the youth of the nation, shot down passenger planes, and killed, injured, and displaced millions of innocent people in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

It is precisely for this reason that the Iranian Resistance has consistently emphasized that to strike at the head of the snake, the IRGC, which is the main pillar supporting the regime, must be placed on the sanctions list, and disbanded. Measures such as imposing sanctions on certain branches of the IRGC or its leaders are ineffective and futile actions that only make the criminal and terrorist regime bolder.

The ultimate solution, however, is to support the people of Iran in their struggle for freedom by recognizing their right to defend themselves against the regime and overthrow the tyrannical rule of the mullahs to establish a democratic republic.

This is, indeed, the most suitable option to put an end to all the afflictions cause by regime of Iran internally and internationally.
